Seoul Fashion Week SS27: The Art of Expression
Seoul Fashion Week returns for a second chapter of standout SS27 runways, where five distinctive creative voices invite a closer look at what caught our eye.
November 3, 2026
Seoul's creative ambitions stretched across two of its most recognizable landmarks as Seoul Fashion Week SS27 unfolded at Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Lotte World Tower. The Spring/Summer 2027 season offered designers an expanded stage for presenting their artistic identities, connecting established craftsmanship with emerging cultural influences.
Following the imaginative explorations of DOUCAN, HOLYNUMBER7, ULKIN, and HANNAH SHIN, the second installment turns toward five labels whose collections express strikingly individual approaches to contemporary fashion. Through tailoring, archival reinterpretation, feminine elegance, and theatrical presentation, KELLY SHIN, KIMHĒKIM, CAHIERS, BIG PARK, and GREEDILOUS each contributed a distinctive perspective to Seoul's evolving design landscape.
KELLY SHIN: The Power of Presence
A commanding silhouette can convey confidence through the smallest adjustments in proportion. For Seoul Fashion Week SS27, designer Shin Soo-jin explored this relationship through INTO A NEW PRESENCE, a collection devoted to the strength and individuality of contemporary women.
The runway unfolded across four conceptual stages: SILENCE, CONTROL, EXPANSION, and AURA. Each represented a different expression of personal presence, moving from composed restraint toward an increasingly assertive visual identity.
Black, grey, and deep navy established a disciplined foundation. Power shoulders, defined waistlines, and elongated silhouettes emphasized the body's proportions, while shimmering fabrics introduced movement and luminosity.
A metal mesh trench coat offered a particularly compelling interpretation of classic outerwear. Broad lapels and a coordinating waist tie preserved the familiar construction, while its reflective surface transformed the garment into a statement of contemporary elegance.
The collection's signature Aura Print introduced softly dispersed colors, creating an atmospheric contrast with the sharp tailoring. Through these deliberate relationships between material and silhouette, KELLY SHIN articulated a vision of femininity grounded in composure, confidence, and self-expression.
KIMHĒKIM: Ten Years Beneath Seoul's Lights
For designer Kimintē, returning to Seoul carried particular significance. Celebrating the tenth anniversary of KIMHĒKIM, SEOUL LIGHT revisited a decade of creative development through the recognizable symbols that have shaped the house's identity.
Presented at Lotte World Mall World Park, the collection marked the brand's first standalone runway show in its home city. The occasion brought a designer whose work has gained international recognition through Paris into direct conversation with Seoul's fashion audience.
Oversized ribbons, elaborate pearls, and sculptural hairpieces appeared throughout the runway, revisited through altered proportions and intricate construction. These familiar elements acquired renewed expression through the designer's continued exploration of ornamentation and silhouette.
The house's distinctive military princess vocabulary remained visible, combining the discipline of uniform-inspired tailoring with romantic embellishments and elaborate volumes.
Adidas Stan Smith sneakers introduced an unexpected casual element, placing everyday sportswear within the collection's highly constructed visual world.
Throughout SEOUL LIGHT, KIMHĒKIM demonstrated the creative possibilities contained within an established archive. The anniversary became an opportunity to reinterpret familiar signatures through a contemporary perspective, allowing the house's accumulated design language to develop into another chapter.
CAHIERS: The Romance of Golden Hour
The warm glow of a Mediterranean sunset inspired CAHIERS at Seoul Fashion Week SS27. Designer Kim Ah-young imagined the glamour of 1980s Saint-Tropez for L'HEURE DORÉE, translating the atmosphere of the French resort town into feminine silhouettes shaped by light and movement.
Projected images of the sea and clouds, accompanied by the sound of waves, established a serene setting for the collection. Within this environment, elements of 1980s power dressing acquired fluidity through carefully considered fabric and construction.
Square-shouldered linen jackets introduced confident proportions, while balloon-sleeved chiffon blouses softened the silhouette. Wrap dresses featured hexagonal buckle belts, creating defined waistlines through an elegant interplay of structure and draping.
Tiered maxi dresses brought additional movement through dimensional ruffles, accompanied by relaxed Bermuda shorts and lightweight separates.
Crinkle chiffon, linen, silk, and cotton poplin supported the collection's airy character. Colors developed through sand, butter yellow, mauve, and sage before reaching coral, deep red, and indigo.
The appeal of L'HEURE DORÉE emerged through CAHIERS' sensitive treatment of volume. Kim demonstrated how structured tailoring and flowing textiles can inhabit the same wardrobe, creating a vision of contemporary femininity that carries both confidence and ease.
BIG PARK: Tailoring Through Time
Decades of accumulated design experience informed Park Youn-soo's Spring/Summer 2027 collection, EXPANDED CONTINUUM. Presented at Seoul Fashion Week, BIG PARK examined the evolution of traditional craftsmanship through contemporary proportions and experimental construction.
Models crossed a raised white runway, passing closely as they moved in opposite directions. The staging evoked encounters between different moments in time, reflecting the designer's interest in continuity and creative development.
Precisely tailored jackets with defined shoulders appeared alongside striped suits and abbreviated outerwear. Semi-balloon trousers introduced unexpected volume, while reconstructed denim, frayed seams, and exposed fabric edges disrupted the precision of conventional tailoring.
Floral imagery brought another dimension to the collection. Expressive prints and dimensional textures appeared alongside arrangements of dried flowers, preserved foliage, and decorative tassels.
Turquoise, magenta, cobalt, and mustard enlivened the neutral palette, introducing vivid contrasts across structured garments.
BIG PARK's creative achievement lay in the relationship between technical discipline and experimentation. The designer treated accumulated knowledge as a foundation for changing proportions and developing fresh expressions of clothing, demonstrating the enduring possibilities of craftsmanship.
GREEDILOUS: A Journey to Asteroid G-78
A whimsical universe emerged beneath the evening sky at Lotte World Tower, where GREEDILOUS transformed The Little Prince into a colorful celebration of imagination.
For Seoul Fashion Week SS27, designer Park Yoon-hee introduced THE LITTLE PRINCE: ASTEROID G-78, drawing inspiration from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's literary world of roses, stars, and extraordinary journeys.
The brand's signature graphic prints spread across tailored suits, trench coats, knitwear, and dresses. Vivid orange, red, and blue accompanied botanical motifs, while layered tulle and exuberant ruffles introduced theatrical volume.
Graphic T-shirts referencing the fictional planet G-78 appeared alongside Adidas sneakers and casual accessories, connecting the collection's playful imagery with contemporary streetwear.
The presentation extended into an ambitious collaboration involving Adidas, ROBOTIS, and the Lotte Kids Orchestra. Live orchestral music accompanied the runway as a walking robot appeared in collaborative clothing, including a graphic T-shirt and pale blue tulle skirt.
Through this imaginative staging, GREEDILOUS demonstrated the expressive versatility of its recognizable visual identity. Fashion became the foundation for an immersive world where literature, color, technology, and performance could exist together.
Seoul Fashion Week: A Language of Individuality
Across these collections, Seoul Fashion Week revealed the importance of creative continuity. The relationship between a designer's established identity and each season's new ideas creates opportunities for artistic development and international recognition.
The five labels presented compelling interpretations of their individual design philosophies, expressing their identities through the construction, materials, and presentation of clothing.
For Seoul's fashion community, this growing diversity offers an encouraging direction. The lasting impression of Seoul Fashion Week SS27 lies in the distinct creative voices shaping its future, each developing an aesthetic that can travel far beyond the runway.
