Founded by Samuel Ross in 2015, A-Cold-Wall developed a distinctive visual language rooted in architecture, British class structures and industrial design. Technical fabrics, protective silhouettes and utilitarian construction became vehicles for examining contemporary society. Following Ross’s departure in 2024, the label passed through Tomorrow before being acquired by Four Marketing, which now oversees its next phase of development.
Joshua Bullen arrives with substantial experience across luxury fashion and technical menswear. After spending more than a decade at Stone Island, he held senior menswear design positions at Givenchy before joining Kenzo as design and studio director under Nigo. His background combines material innovation, luxury craftsmanship and the commercial understanding of contemporary wardrobes, offering a foundation for the label’s evolving identity.
The appointment also introduces a different approach to creative leadership. Working alongside creative consultant Nick Griffiths and the existing product development team, Bullen will operate within an open-ended residency. Four Marketing envisions the arrangement as a long-term platform capable of welcoming future guest designers while maintaining continuity within the brand's studio.

Under Joshua Bullen, A Cold Wall intends to strengthen its emphasis on clothing, with functional everyday garments and London-made tailoring among the priorities. Beyond the studio, Four Marketing is preparing US-based fulfillment for February 2027 and an American showroom for the Fall 2027 season, while considering the first London flagship store as a longer-term ambition.
The commercial ambitions carry particular significance for a label whose cultural influence has historically exceeded its sales performance. Yet the creative implications extend further. Fashion houses have increasingly attached their identities to the visions of individual creative directors, making A Cold Wall’s collaborative experiment an intriguing alternative.
The challenge now lies in translating Samuel Ross’s deeply personal design philosophy into a creative language that can accommodate multiple perspectives. If successful, residency could establish a model of authorship built around collective evolution, with implications reaching beyond A Cold Wall.
