Jil Sander x PUMA Revisits Its Sportswear Legacy
On October 22, 2026, Jil Sander x PUMA opened another chapter in a partnership that began long before luxury sneaker collaborations became an industry formula. For Fall/Winter 2026, the two brands move beyond footwear for the first time, bringing one of PUMA’s most recognisable tracksuits into Simone Bellotti’s restrained Jil Sander vocabulary.

The relationship dates to 1998, when Jil Sander worked with PUMA to reinterpret football footwear as luxury leather sneakers. PUMA describes the project as the first time the company formally merged sport and fashion, combining references from the KING football boot and EASY RIDER running shoe into a lifestyle proposition. At a point when designer sneakers had yet to become a dependable luxury category, the collaboration treated athletic footwear as something that could belong inside a minimalist fashion wardrobe.
The partnership eventually went quiet before Simone Bellotti revived it in October 2025 with a premium leather KING AVANTI. A second release followed in April 2026 with the K-STREET, combining an archival running-spike upper with a sole inspired by karate footwear.
Nearly three decades after the original project, the third instalment finally moves upward from the feet.
At the centre of Fall/Winter 2026 is PUMA’s T7 tracksuit, introduced in 1968 and named after its seven-centimetre Formstrip. Bellotti rebuilds it as a boxy jacket and tapered trousers cut from exclusive bi-stretch wool, replacing familiar synthetic sportswear with something more structured, breathable and quietly luxurious. A long-sleeved top completes the apparel capsule.
Footwear remains part of the conversation. The Speedcat returns through a reissue of an earlier Jil Sander and PUMA archive design, while the Suede is stripped back in premium leather with hidden lacing and a cleaner outsole. Meadow Walker and Barry Lawson front the campaign, photographed by Guen Fiore in a landscape deliberately suspended between urban dressing and the outdoors.
What makes the reunion interesting is not nostalgia alone. In 1998, putting a fashion designer’s hand on performance footwear still carried an element of experimentation. By 2026, luxury houses, sports labels and sneaker drops coexist almost routinely. Bellotti, therefore, returns to a partnership that helped establish the language he is now able to complicate.
Collaboration has changed because the industry around it has changed too. Nearly thirty years after first collapsing the distance between minimalist luxury and athletic footwear, Jil Sander x PUMA is now extending that conversation into the clothes themselves.
