Miu Miu SS27: Geek Chic Goes to Gym Class
Miu Miu SS27 turns the everyday wardrobe into a geek-chic playground, where sports bras, pleats, crystal and sneakers collide with playful precision in Paris.

At Miu Miu, the present is already strange enough to be fashion. For Spring/Summer 2027, Miuccia Prada studies what people actually wear now and treats that everyday wardrobe like a laboratory. Titled Here and Now, the collection was shown at the Palais d’Iéna on a royal-purple sports court marked with white lines and flanked by brown bleachers, turning Paris Fashion Week into something between a school gym, an art installation and a very well-dressed study hall.
Miu Miu Makes the Present Its Mood Board
Miuccia Prada’s starting point is refreshingly immediate. Here and Now looks at contemporary dressing as a collage already in progress, full of sportswear, preppy codes, vintage references, evening pieces and casual clothes worn together with little concern for old categories. Miu Miu takes that reality seriously and gives it a sharper sense of intention.
The casting helps establish the mood. Olivia Colman, Jamie Bell, Emma Corrin, Noah Jupe and Louisa Jacobson walk alongside Gigi Hadid, Liu Wen and established models, creating a lineup that feels like a collection of personalities gathered for the same peculiar event. That fits Miu Miu perfectly. The house enjoys the intelligence of character, especially when clothes reveal a slightly eccentric relationship to taste.
Purple, one of Prada’s current favourite colours, transforms the Palais d’Iéna into a graphic playing field, while the bleachers make the audience feel like spectators at some highly academic sporting event. The show also moved from Miu Miu’s familiar Tuesday slot to Sunday at 1 p.m., giving the presentation a different rhythm within Paris Fashion Week.
The silhouette starts with familiar forms and then nudges them into odd little relationships. Knee-length pleated skirts and kilts bring school-uniform energy, micro hot pants recall board shorts, and low-rise track trousers sit beside elastic-waist dress trousers with a relaxed, absent-minded polish. Sports bras and cropped performance tops keep the torso exposed, while fitted cocktail dresses, empire-line spaghetti-strap dresses, sheath silhouettes and compact 1960s minidresses bring a more polished, dressed-up rhythm to the collection.
Checked blazers, narrow leather jackets and scarf tops keep the upper body concise, while crossed lacing changes how garments sit on the waist and hips. Lacing closes jeans, gathers skirts and cinches tops, so a familiar fastening becomes part of the silhouette itself.
One of the most playful ideas appears in the way underwear and athletic pieces move into visible styling roles. Gigi Hadid wears a pleated skirt with a bra shifted into an unexpected position, while rugby-style and performance layers sit beneath delicate dresses. The combinations feel mischievous because the proportions remain exact. Miu Miu lets a polished silhouette carry one peculiar decision, then builds the whole look around it.
Wax, Satin and Denim Get a Little Weird
Material treatment gives Here and Now its tactile personality. Suede is laminated with wax, then allowed to crease and crack so the surface arrives already carrying the memory of wear. Satin and gauze are crushed and combined with metal, giving evening fabrics a crumpled glamour. Technical jersey supplies athletic directness, while crystal embroidery and decorative fragments give sports-shaped pieces a deliberately dressed-up finish.
A silk bow can appear almost independently against the skin, reducing the idea of a blouse to one decorative gesture. Embellished bralettes carry crystal and embroidery into a category associated with function and intimacy. Leather, geometric printed silk and vintage denim widen the material language while preserving the collection’s quick, intelligent rhythm.
Miu Miu Upcycled also works with Wrangler on vintage denim sourced from late-20th-century archetypal jeans. The pieces are reconstructed with the same crossed-lacing technique seen throughout the collection, giving the collaboration a clear role inside the season’s design system.
The New Balance partnership continues for a fifth year with the RC150 racing sneaker, named for its original 150-gram weight. Technical mesh, external loops and loose contrast laces make the shoe appear slightly dismantled, and on the runway it lands naturally beside pleated skirts, kilts and cocktail pieces. Miu Miu treats the sneaker as part of the wardrobe logic, fully absorbed into the peculiar grammar of the season.
Styling Turns Wrong Into Right
Lotta Volkova’s styling gives Miu Miu SS27 its full geek-chic charge. Large snakeskin bags, bowler shapes, messenger bags, oversized sunglasses, scarf necklines, worn loafers, thong sandals and sneaker-laced pumps move through the runway with a studied lack of fuss. Bright sports shorts sit beside jewelry, crystal bralettes appear under everyday layers, and visible drawstrings remain part of the look.
Retro geometric prints bring back an older Miu Miu mood through compact minis, scarves and pullovers, while the accessories keep the collection grounded firmly in the present. The styling works because every look feels like a person made one very specific choice and then committed to it completely.
The scenography also continues beyond the runway. The purple sports court becomes the physical foundation for filmmaker Alice Diop’s Geste de Consolation, an interdisciplinary Miu Miu project presented during Art Basel Paris later in October. One set therefore moves from fashion show to cultural programme, giving the visual concept a second life.
Miu Miu Turns Momentum Into a Full Wardrobe
SS27 arrives after several years of exceptional commercial growth for Miu Miu. Retail sales rose 35 percent in 2025, taking brand net revenue to around €1.79 billion, while 2026 brought a period of normalization after that extraordinary expansion. Prada Group continues to describe Miu Miu’s desirability and retail performance as robust, with the strategic focus increasingly shifting toward a broader total-look offer.
Here and Now fits that business direction neatly. Sportswear, tailoring, denim, eveningwear, bags, shoes, jewellery and collaborations all receive meaningful runway attention, giving Miu Miu more ways to occupy the customer’s daily wardrobe. The brand is also investing in experiences such as Miu Miu Vinyl Club pop-ups and the Shanghai IFC lounge, using hospitality, music and community to deepen the relationship around the product.
That makes SS27 especially timely. Miu Miu has already become a powerful cultural shorthand for a certain kind of clever, offbeat femininity, one that loves the schoolgirl kilt, the enormous bag, the very serious glasses and the tiny piece of clothing worn with complete conviction. Here and Now gives that identity more practical range, turning geek chic into a wardrobe capable of moving from gym-class fantasy to cocktail hour, from denim to crystal, from Sunday afternoon to midnight, all with the same slightly mischievous intelligence.
