Seven months can completely change the scenery of a fashion house. For Fall/Winter 2026, Genny looked toward the late 18th century, Les Incroyables et les Merveilleuses, Neoclassical elegance and a wardrobe shaped through tailoring, corsetry, peplums, ruffles, feathers and architectural floral volume. Spring/Summer 2027 carries the same woman into an imaginary oasis.

Sara Cavazza Facchini titled the collection The Queen of the Desert, presenting 44 looks in Milan on September 24. Her starting point came after an intense working day, when a photography book transported her mentally into an African landscape. From that moment she developed a dream environment built around three natural worlds: animal, vegetal and mineral.

The location changes, the construction changes and the woman changes pace, yet Genny remains immediately legible.

Genny Sends Its Woman Into an Imaginary Oasis

Cavazza Facchini treats the desert as an emotional landscape built around escape, stillness and freedom. Animal imagery comes through zebra patterning and other animalier surfaces, botanical life appears through agave and Genny’s recurring orchid, while the mineral world informs the hardstone colors and jewellery influenced by Suzanne Belperron.

The concept gives the designer a clear system for developing the clothes. A cobalt associated with Tuareg dress punctuates sand, off-white, rust, pale blue, pink and acid green. Agave motifs spread across floating fabric, while zebra stripes mingle with orchid imagery. Jewellery traces the body through stones and chains, providing density beside fabrics designed to move with air.

Cavazza Facchini also gives the woman an introspective character. Her desert queen carries glamour through ease, with a body framed by fabric that drifts, gathers and opens around her. The styling maintains polish through jewellery, woven footwear and softly controlled beauty, so the fantasy retains Genny’s cultivated femininity throughout the journey.

Tailored jackets take on the weight and attitude of shirts, blouses open through deep cagoule necklines, lace bras remain visible, trousers widen or gather into bloomer shapes and skirts expand through billowing volume. Scarves become structural pieces of tops and dresses, allowing fabric to wrap, trail and shift across the body.

The seasonal change gives Genny a convincing resort register. Sensuality comes through exposed shoulders, sheer surfaces and fabric moving around the skin, while innocence survives through rounded volumes, florals, delicate lace and soft color.

The Silhouette Learns the Language of Wind

Movement becomes one of the central construction tools of Genny SS27. Wide trousers create long horizontal sweeps around the leg, handkerchief hems interrupt clean lines and fluid dresses use asymmetry to suggest fabric caught by wind. Bloomer trousers introduce rounded volume around the hip and thigh, while draped tops and tunics allow the upper body to remain open.

This looseness works particularly well because the body continues to guide the silhouette. Cords drawn across tulle trace its contours, sheer blouses expose lingerie underneath and cut-outs create precise interruptions across otherwise fluid garments. The relationship between skin and fabric gives many looks their sensuality.

Several tailored pieces preserve the house’s control of proportion. A cropped jacket with defined shoulders worn above flowing trousers provides structure within the desert vocabulary, while cream suiting paired with a cut-out bodysuit brings tailoring into the same sensual register as the dresses.

Denim Gives Genny a New Everyday Vocabulary

One of SS27’s significant developments comes through denim, which is Genny’s first substantive exploration of the material.

Laser cutting opens the surface, hand embroidery introduces three-dimensional flowers and printed chiffon is layered over denim before appearing distressed and partially torn away. Barrel jeans are paired with translucent blouses and visible lingerie, allowing an everyday fabric to enter Genny through glamour.

The combination of chiffon and denim captures the collection particularly well. One material suggests fragility and movement, while the other provides weight and familiarity. Their contact creates a wardrobe with room for daily dressing alongside the evening gowns and event pieces associated with the house.

Tulle, Muslin and Lace Turn the Desert Into Movement

Tulle, silk muslin, poplin, jersey and crêpe create different degrees of transparency and fluidity, while French Chantilly lace introduces an intimate texture around the skin. Gauze-effect cotton receives rhinestone embroidery inspired by oasis vegetation, and botanical appliqués spread across denim and evening pieces.

Several techniques deserve attention because they show how carefully Cavazza Facchini builds lightness. Cords travel across transparent tulle to redraw the body. Chiffon is distressed against denim. Scarves become functional pieces of garment construction. Laser cutting removes sections of heavier fabric. Three-dimensional flowers project away from the surface, bringing the orchid motif into physical space.

The eveningwear continues Genny’s familiar romance through long draped gowns, balloon dresses, petal bodices and sheer layers, while the daywear carries the collection’s clearest sense of development through relaxed trousers, open shirting and denim.

Genny Is 64 Years Old and Growing With Purpose

Arnaldo and Donatella Girombelli launched the house in 1962, making Genny 64 years old in 2026. Gianni Versace became its designer in 1973 and played an important role in its development, while the house’s history later involved talents including Claude Montana, Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Lacroix. Swinger International acquired Genny in 2011, and Sara Cavazza Facchini has directed its creative identity since 2013.

The house also shows clear signs of active growth in 2026. In April, Genny presented a special runway at the Yacht Club de Monaco during Monte-Carlo Fashion Week and opened its first boutique in Monaco at Metropole Shopping Monte-Carlo, an opening explicitly positioned as part of its international expansion strategy.

For a 64-year-old Italian house with a new boutique, an active international runway presence and a clear expansion strategy in 2026, this collection reads as part of a living heritage story. Genny has history behind it, and SS27 shows a brand actively deciding how that history should dress for its next chapter.
