Historic Palazzos Become Galleries of Contemporary Jewelry

From October 20 to 26, 2026, the sixth edition of Milano Jewelry Week transformed the Italian fashion capital into an international showcase of contemporary jewelry design, craftsmanship, and artistic experimentation.

Organised by Prodes Italia, the event brought together independent creators, luxury jewellery houses, design academies, galleries, and collectors across Milan's historic centre. Its programme was structured around a citywide Experiential Journey, culminating in three principal exhibitions held from October 24 to 26.

At Palazzo Bovara on Corso Venezia, Artistar Jewels and Talent Show presented jewellery as a vehicle for creative expression. Nearby, Palazzo Serbelloni hosted The Jewelry Hub, offering a complementary perspective on the relationship between artistic innovation and established luxury craftsmanship.

The architectural settings contributed to the exhibitions' identity. Within ornate historical interiors, contemporary jewelry acquired a visual dialogue with Milan's decorative heritage, revealing unexpected connections between the sculptural ambitions of modern designers and the craftsmanship of earlier generations.

At the centre of this cultural event, Artistar Jewels provided an international platform for experimental jewellery practices.

The exhibition encouraged visitors to consider the artistic possibilities of precious metals, gemstones, unconventional materials, and innovative construction techniques. Across contemporary jewelry, traditional definitions of beauty increasingly coexist with conceptual explorations of identity, materiality, and the relationship between objects and the human body.

The event's programme also included MJW Talks at Sotheby's Milano, providing opportunities for discussion among designers, businesses, journalists, and collectors. The official awards ceremony took place on October 25 at the Auditorium di Milano.

The significance of Milano Jewelry Week extends beyond its exhibitions. By bringing jewellery into historic architecture, galleries, and public-facing cultural programmes, the event reinforces its position within the wider creative industries.

Unlike conventional trade fairs organised primarily around transactions and sourcing, Milano Jewelry Week encourages visitors to engage with the ideas, processes, and individual artistic identities behind each creation.

Its relationship with Milan's existing design and fashion culture also strengthens the city's position as a meeting point for creative disciplines.

Among the international cultural events dedicated to craftsmanship, Milano Jewelry Week demonstrates how jewellery can inhabit several worlds simultaneously: luxury commerce, experimental design, and contemporary art. The 2026 edition offered a compelling reminder that the future of contemporary jewelry will be shaped as much by artistic imagination and cultural dialogue as by the intrinsic value of precious materials.
