On June 4, Audi introduced the pre-production prototype of the Audi Nuvolari at the Hotel Eden Roc in Antibes, France. According to the four rings’ CEO Gernot Döllner, the Nuvolri is its first supercar with a high-performance hybrid powertrain, representing the future of Audi, a new form of performance and “Vorsprung durch Technik” in the age of electrification. Its name is derived from Tazio Nuvolari, one of the most outstanding drivers in the history of motorsports, renowned for his fearlessness, ingenuity, dedication, and single-minded will to succeed. More than an inspiration, this name hints at the technologies that Audi incorporated into this hypercar.
Powered by a hybrid high-performance powertrain, the Audi Nuvolari can achieve a maximum system output of 736 kW (1,001 PS). Combined with quattro predictive ride and active aerodynamics, this hypercar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and reach 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds, making it the fastest and most powerful production vehicle in Audi’s history. The Nuvolari, through these Formula 1-inspired innovations, becomes a desirable premium automotive that is born to satisfy drivers' passion for speed and extraordinary driving experiences.
Additionally, the influence of Formula 1 can be seen in the exterior of the Audi Nuvolari. The four rings’ signature color Titanium, previously used on the Audi Concept C and Audi Formula 1 race cars, appears on this hypercar. Furthermore, the Nuvolari is the first production vehicle to demonstrate Audi’s new design philosophy, as its structure is defined by taut surfaces, precise lines, and a powerful, monolithic presence. Complementing this outstanding exterior is a minimalist interior space, focused on the act of driving. Audi incorporated the driver-centric approach into the Nuvolari’s design by positioning all essential functional controls within the driver's line of sight, including key elements of the human-machine interface (HMI). One material featured on the Audi Nuvolari’s exterior and interior is carbon fibers developed with prepreg autoclave technology. Accordingly, “pre-impregnated carbon-fibers are shaped and then cure under high pressure and temperature - ensuring maximum structural performance with minimal weight”. This complex process produced high-quality materials - the foundation for lightweight components, namely construction and seating. From the interior to the exterior, Audi Nuvolari is designed to enhance the driving experience, delivering exhilarating journeys.
The Audi Nuvolari made such a surprise debut: there were no advertising campaigns or spy photos, and the production is limited to only 499 units with deliveries starting in the first half of 2027. Marketing, segmentation, design - every aspect of this hypercar embodies the spirit of Audi: a willingness to make bold strategic decisions. This leaves car enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the four rings's next moves, wondering what this century-old brand will do next to make its mark in the high-performance segment.
