A century after its glittering debut in Paris, Art Deco returns to its birthplace.

From October 22, 2025 to April 26, 2026, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (MAD Paris) celebrates the timeless allure of modern elegance with 1925–2025: One Hundred Years of Art Deco, a landmark exhibition marking a century since the movement’s dazzling debut at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes.

Bringing together over 350 works — from furniture, fashion, glass, and jewelry to architecture, photography, and film, the exhibition charts the evolution of Art Deco from its Parisian origins to its worldwide influence. The galleries showcase masterworks by Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Jeanne Lanvin, René Lalique and Eileen Gray, alongside contemporary reinterpretations by designers and artists inspired by the movement’s geometric grace and cosmopolitan spirit.

Alongside its grand exhibition, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (MAD Paris) offers a rich program of guided tours and creative workshops designed to immerse visitors of all ages in the spirit of Art Deco.

“Only the very rich can pay for what is new and they alone can make it fashionable,” observed Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, one of the defining figures of the Art Deco movement.

His words capture the essence of a style born from luxury and modern ambition. Emerging in the 1920s, Art Deco celebrated innovation, craftsmanship, and opulence, blending fine materials — exotic woods, ivory, lacquer and chrome, with precise geometry and streamlined forms. It was a style for a new age of progress and glamour, reflecting the optimism of the interwar years and the rise of a cosmopolitan elite who sought to live beautifully in a changing world.

A century later, his statement still resonates, reminding us that Art Deco was not merely an aesthetic, it was a declaration of confidence in design, craftsmanship, and the power of beauty to shape the modern experience.
